Furniture. Props. Costumes. Mechanisms.

Objects deserve another story.

A physical-making workshop for one-of-one furniture, fabricated props, wearable cosplay pieces, practical effects, moving mechanisms, and strange ideas that need to exist somewhere beyond a screen.

The archive is just beginning.

Inside the workshop

The furniture archive remains the first collection, while the workshop grows into fabrication, costume, props, practical mechanisms, and animatronic experiments.

The furniture process

Rescue. Repair. Reimagine. Return.

01

Found

A cast-off piece arrives with all its scars and possibilities intact.

02

Restored

Loose joints, rough surfaces, and tired hardware are made sound again.

03

Transformed

Layered colour, texture, grain, and restraint create a singular finish.

04

Found a home

The object leaves the workshop ready to begin another chapter.

Beyond furniture

Builds that move, wear, perform, or tell a story.

These directions are part of the growing workshop rather than a promise that every technique is already mastered. The point is to learn by making increasingly ambitious physical things.

01

Props & practical effects

Handheld artifacts, set pieces, creature details, masks, scenic objects, and physical storytelling tools.

02

Cosplay fabrication

Foam, fabric, structure, finishing, wearable components, creature builds, and costumes designed to survive actual movement.

03

Mechanisms

Hinges, linkages, puppetry, moving features, simple electronics, lighting, servos, and practical motion built into an object or costume.

04

Animatronic experiments

Character and creature builds where fabrication meets motion, control systems, performance, and the wonderfully unnecessary ambition to make the thing actually move.

The transformation archive

A physical thing of your own

Commission a transformation or build

Bring an existing furniture piece, a prop idea, a costume problem, or a strange physical concept. The workshop can start with restoration, fabrication, or simply figuring out how the thing might be made.

About the studio

Built slowly, with wonder.

Root & Render Objects is where restoration and fabrication meet. Furniture can be rescued and rewritten; props, costumes, mechanisms, and animatronics can be built from nothing; and any of them can become part of a larger story.
